Specialty of Department

  • Shalakyatantra is defined as branch of an Ayurveda which deals with diagnosis and management of diseases that occurs above the (urdwa jatru) clavicle. Diseases of eyes, ears, nose, throat, head and neck are included in it.

  • Since this specialty deals sense organs and narrow parts of body, it requires various specialised instruments for diagnosis and treatment. Hence, the term Shalaki is used for the specialists of Shalakyatantra.

  • Vision – To attain perfection in evaluation of Shalakyatantra diseases on classical and modern diagnostic aids, so as to facilitate utmost care and give perception of sense organ to the patients.

  • The innovative ophthalmic surgeries and the Ayurvedic Netra, Karna, Nasa and Mukha kriyakalpas are carried out under the department.
